Position Title: Manager- Distribution Center

BASIC PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION


Plan, direct, and manage activities related to division distribution, warehouse, and assembly operations.Oversee and manage domestic traffic operations, and provide warehouses and vendors with guidelines to be used for outbound dealer shipments and inbound warehouse shipments.PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:



+ Oversee warehouse operations to assure that receipts and dealer shipments are processed timely, correctly, and efficiently in order to prevent receipt backlog, inventory discrepancies, and avoid costly shipping errors.


+ Manage final assembly operations to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained, productivity is continually improved, and on time delivery requirements achieved.


+ Work as a liaison between Divisions, Product Line Directors, and Supply Chain Operations to maximize the ability to deliver all Wholegoods in an accurate and timely manner to the dealers.


+ Proactively identify and correct any supply issues which would prevent achieving the Division annual wholesale plan as well as other corporate objectives.


+ Ensure maximum performance to yearly wholesale plan through close relationship with Division, District and Regional Sales Managers.


+ Develop performance standards to measure customer satisfaction and cost effectiveness and implement strategies for constant improvement.


+ Monitor all traffic operations for inbound and outbound domestic freight for suppliers and warehouses.Traffic operations monitored include: pricing, service levels, damage control, claims, theft, and performance measurement.


+ Monitor the cosmetic and general condition of goods received at warehouses and shipped to dealer by handling shortage and damage claims; reports and corrects problems with product packaging or handling procedures.


+ Coordinate stop shipment "recall/rework" projects on warehouse inventory, ranging from kit hardware shorts to the overhaul of large tractors.


+ Resolve distribution issues and respond to related inquiries from dealers, sales management and other company departments to maintain a high customer service level in regards to company products.


+ Develop recommendations relating to forecasting, ordering, and stock transfers for optimum inventory levels and availability of product for dealers.


+ Provide Division Manager with monthly forecast of warehouse shipments.


+ Implement and enforce corporate distribution policies and procedures on a divisional level and cross train employees to work in Parts with an understanding of their policies and procedures.


+ Translate overall strategic business objectives into specific department initiatives. Develop status reports and visibility of Department activity for frequent presentation to upper management. Plan and share ideas/goals for the future.


+ Develop recommendations for annual Supply Chain Operations budget and manage resources as assigned to achieve company expense and cost targets.


+ Supervision of employees as needed including, but not limited to, recruiting, managing, performance tracking, training, coaching, counseling and distributing workloads. Enforce policies, rules and laws. Partner with Human Resources on employee relations matters.


+ Lead all Lean improvement programs and initiatives including 5S, PDCA, Kaizen, etc.






SPECIAL PROJECTS


Special projects and duties as assigned such as: facilitating inventory placement to increase direct shipments to customers, testing and implementing new systems or revisions to existing systems, monthly reporting, advising and developing improved methods/systems, manage improvement projects, or help in the further development of a dealer ordering and inventory management system (KIO).


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND TRAINING:


1. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or related field, and 6-15 years of experience managing staff and facilities in distribution.


2. Distribution, assembly, warehousing, and logistics experience; warehouse management systems experience, freight cost management and strategic planning in association with logistics and warehouse expansion.


SKILLS AND BACKGROUND:


1.Effective written and verbal communication skills.


2.Effective leadership/management skills.


3.Working knowledge of all aspects of warehouse and distribution management, including safety and OSHA regulations.


4.communication skills and effective customer service skills.


5.Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills, SAP, and WMS software packages.


6.Ability to effectively work in a high stress environment.


7.Strong leadership and organizational skills.


8.Lean training and experience (TPS, 6 Sigma)


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:



+ Performance of the duties of this job will expose the person to potential hazards including, noise, chemicals, paints, fuels, dust, heat, moving parts and operation of mechanical or electrical equipment.


+ Must be able to travel up to 25% by airplane, overnight and up to 2 weeks at a time


+ Incumbent will receive direction from immediate manager and dotted line manager.
